Ingredients Dictionary Horizontal

Not Recommended

I am paranoid. I’m sure some of the ingredients I don’t like may be just fine, or just fine for those with straighter hair, or whose goals with their hair (like, say, increasing volume) would find some of these products just what they needed. However, my goals are to protect my curls, make sure they can be combed more easily, and to give them some weight.

These are combing conditioners that I tried or looked over the ingredients and decided they would not work for the tightly curly method. If it’s as simple as an ingredient I don’t like, I’ll say so. If I tried it and found it not to work well, I’ll let you know what happened, so you can make your own decisions.

You can check them out on the Products not recommended page.

I’m not as picky about shampoos as I am conditioners, since they can be rinsed out (I leave the combing conditioners in my hair after combing them through, so they have a lot of work to do). However, there are some ingredients that I don’t like to see in any product, such as acrylates, which can build up in the hair and literally make it sticky, and won’t rinse out (I found out the hard way back in high school), or if the cleansing ingredients seem extra harsh, or I don’t feel comfortable about a certain ingredient for whatever reason.

I’ll let you know why it didn’t make it onto the recommended list if you’re curious about a certain product, and why you aren’t seeing it there.
