I’m not as picky about shampoos as I am about combing conditioners (since combing conditioners have so many roles to fill in your hair, while shampoos get rinsed out), but still…. Just glancing at the ingredients list in the store of this shampoo, sodium hydroxide jumped out at me first. That’s what’s used in relaxers. Now I know this is most likely in there to balance the pH, but just the idea of using any product with this in it makes me shudder. There’s also carbomer and acrylates copolymer which can make your hair sticky with repeated use. This is a shampoo, it’s supposed to clean your hair, not make it worse. And if those weren’t enough, there’s isopropyl alcohol as well as a few other ingredients I’m not thrilled to see in shampoos, but aren’t deal breakers if they’re the only questionable ingredient in a shampoo where all the other ingredients look really good, questionable ingredients like sodium acetate and salicylic acid. In a shampoo if everything else looked moisturizing and fabulous, I might be tempted to try it. However, it’s adding insult to injury with what else is in this product. So Garnier Fructis Curl Nourish Fortifying Shampoo is not recommended for these reasons.
